Bluestone Wales Overnight Getaway

As you may have seen on my social media, Ryan and I went to Bluestone in the first week of January for an overnight getaway. This was our second trip; we went for belated anniversary celebrations and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The resort is set in a beautiful national park, so as you can imagine it’s surrounded by gorgeous scenery.  Right in the middle of the resort is a little picturesque village with a café, various restaurants, a pub, the village shop and children’s play area. There is also so much to do in the surrounding areas if you fancy leaving to resort to explore. The beaches are gorgeous and the little sea side towns are perfect for wandering around and picking out your favourite fudge in the old sweet shops.

The package we bought included spa access and treatments, so on the first day we headed straight to the gorgeous Well Spa as soon as we got there. We were able to spend 2 hours in the spa’s amazing thermal suite, struggling to choose between the hydrotherapy pool, 2 steam rooms (marine and herbal), 2 saunas (brick and slate), an ice room, a salt inhalation room and relaxation room. It was a perfect 2 hours to relax and prepare for our amazing treatments. We could pick from any of the 50 minute treatments, however I decided to split mine into 2 mini treatments and went for the body polish and express facial. I left the spa feeling fresh, relaxed and renewed and ready to take on the new year.

We stayed in the studio apartments which are perfect for 2 people, the rooms are massive and have a sleeping area and small living room area with a sofa, tv and most importantly a tea making area. To top it off they have giant bath tubs, which was a great way to end the day. They do have lodges for families or bigger parties which look perfect for a few nights to a week away. We did have a small hiccup with our first studio apartment in that we had no hot water, but with a quick call to customer services we were in a new room 5 minutes later with vouchers in hand for money off our dinner for the inconvenience. Their service was absolutely brilliant, there was no fuss at all and it was super fast.

Of course we also ate at the resort as there was so much to choose from it would have been pointless to leave. Last time we ate at The Farmhouse Grill which was absolutely amazing, but this time we chose something different and went to the Knights Tafarn; which was more like traditional pub food. Ryan had the fish and chips, which was absolutely huge; we had never seen anything like it and I had the trusty bangers and mash with vegetables. It was so delicious and I would definitely recommend either of them. We also grabbed breakfast in Tŷ Coffi to escape the rain the next morning before heading out for the day. Let’s just say their smoothies were the perfect way to start the day.

We both had an amazing and relaxing time at Bluestone and would definitely recommend a trip if you haven’t been before. The resort is perfect if you love the outdoors and being out in the country. It’s relaxing and has everything you need in one place but also surrounded by endless amounts of things to do if you fancy exploring.
