February Drug Store Beauty Buys

Do you ever get the sudden urge to go to Boots and spend ages mooching round the aisles and picking out all the best beauty bargains they have to offer? Well I did and luckily for my bank balance I had some points to use up too. It’s been such a long time since I’ve been to a shop and splurged on beauty products and I quickly realised how much I had missed it. I had a good nose around at all the special offers, hunted down all the things that were new and threw a few goodies in my basket.

If you have been on any form of social media lately, you might have seen lots of campaigns about the new Max Factor Lasting Performance Foundation. It’s designed to be a long wearing and have a touch proof formula, so that it doesn’t rub off on your collar or fingers. This is basically the whole reason I decided I wanted to go to Boots. It’s not very often that a new foundation grabs my attention so much, but there was something about this one and I knew I needed to try it.

First impressions? It’s very quickly become my new best friend!

For a drug store foundation that was on sale for £7.99 (normally £9.99) I don’t think, I have ever been so impressed. For me it has good coverage like Double Wear which is just what I need for my rosacea, yet it is so lightweight to wear just like Bare Minerals. Plus, I think it looks very natural on the skin.

The next makeup item I picked up was the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer. Now don’t hate me for this, but I have never tried this before. I know it’s been out for an absolute age and everyone loves it, I have just never got round to buying it. Yet another reason I needed to go to Boots. I have only used it a handful of times so far and it seems to conceal quite well, has very natural tones/colouring and like the foundation is very light to wear. I can’t stand concealer that feels really heavy or cakey; especially when it’s around the eye area so this one is doing well so far!

So, it wouldn’t be a trip to Boots without me spending half hour in the skincare section and buying something new to try. Of course, I was sucked in by the face masks. Sheet masks seem to be the latest trend that everyone is loving and my favourite so far has been the Sephora honey mask, but seen as that’s a little hard to get in the UK I thought I would look for something similar. Lots of people have said the Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask is great especially for it’s price which was only £1, so that went in the basket too. I also then found a new range of sheet masks that Boots have released. They have a collection of masks; each designed to do something different and at £2 a mask I thought I would give one of those a go too.

Lastly, I saw this beautiful pink L’Oreal Fine Flowers Cleansing Milk for dry to sensitive skin sat on the shelf. I am pretty sure I have never seen this before, so I am not sure if it’s a newer release or if I have just been living under a rock, which is also quite possible. It was on offer for £3.99 for 400 mls (normally £5.99) and comes with a pump top, so in the basket that went too. Now if you have followed my blog for a while you know I tend to sway towards the mid-range to high end cleansers like the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish or the Aurelia Probiotic Cleanser, but I always love to test out the drug store ranges to see if there are any dupes or lower priced items that might compete with my favourites. I haven’t been trying it for long enough to give you a final verdict just yet, so keep an eye out for that.

So far I’ve been loving my new purchases and definitely think I need another little trip soon. What are your favourite drug store items that I need to look out for next time I go?

I absolutely love that concealer, it is up there with one of my favourites. I’m even preffering it to the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light! Just goes to shoe drug store can be better. Great little haul too 🙂

Thank you! I have definitely been living under a rock with this one, I can’t believe I have been missing out! I have the Estee Lauder one too and love it and it can be a bit pricey, but I think this one is so good for the money. xx

So glad I am not the only one! It was tucked away on a bottom shelf in my Boots, so you might have to do a little bit of hunting for it x
