Since the summer my mum and I have been planning on going to a Christmas wreath making class this year. We were so excited, but really struggled to find somewhere to go. I was then sat on Facebook one night and saw that the Cobbles Kitchen & Deli in Ogmore by Sea were offering classes. Now this is probably one of my most favourite places to go for brunch, but wreath making classes??? We were sold instantly!
The class was given by Andrea Bryant; a local florist and she was absolutely lovely. She broke down each of the stages and showed us step by step what we needed to do. Mulled wine in hand we started by wiring up our wreath frame and then adding on our moss. We then added a plastic backing to protect the door before adding on all of our foliage. We started by using blue spruce as our main base. We then had a little bit of help to make sure our handles were fully attached before being spoilt with festive afternoon tea.
There were turkey and cranberry or brie and cranberry sandwiches with pigs in blankets sausage rolls; a personal favourite! All topped off with giant scones, Christmas tree rice crispy cakes topped with mini gingerbread men, macaroons and mince pies. Not to mention a bloody good cup of tea!
Once we were full with festive treats, we were straight back to adding on our foliage and filling out the wreath. There were things such as conifer, holly, laurel and lots more to choose from. Once we were happy with the overall shape we started adding on the finishing touches. I chose a hessian bow, pine cones and of course some dried orange slices. I am still tempted to added on some cinnamon sticks too, just to finish it off perfectly.
We both thouroghly enjoyed the class and I could not recommend it enough. There were plenty of materials to use and Andrea was great and helping each of us make our perfect wreath. Of course, the lovely festive afternoon tea was the perfect finishing touch. Even though I think I could make my own wreath again, I would love to go again. We had such a lovely evening and I hope they will be offering the class gain next year as I think we may have found a new Christmas tradition.
Have you ever made your own Christmas wreath before? Let me know in the comments what you like to put on yours.
