Cocktails in the New Sky Bar at The Grape & Olive – Swansea

If you have ever been to Swansea you will probably know exactly where the Meridian Tower is, if you haven’t let’s just say it definitely stands out! So apart from it being the tallest building in Wales, it happens to have one of my favourite restaurants at the top. The Grape and Olive is also the home of the new Sky Bar – a cocktail lover’s dream!

This week I was kindly invited to the press launch to see the new bar area and taste a selection of their cocktails*. Firstly, let’s talk about the location. The floor to ceiling windows provide almost 360° panoramic views, looking out over both Swansea town and Mumbles beach. The views both day and night are absolutely incredible! There is plenty of seating and the restaurant area is just on the floor below if you fancied something to eat too.

The have a range of cocktails to choose from with gin being their speciality. My favourite was of course the classic Hendricks served with a cucumber slice. Their cosmopolitan is also definitely one to look out for, especially with the location – you will instantly feel as glamourous as Carrie Bradshaw. There is something for everyone, including a lovely selection of mocktails that I took full advantage of as I was driving. The Summer Cooler* was one of the best I’ve had. It was full of flavour and garnished with various types of fruit and mint.

Watching the demonstrations it was clear that a lot of effort goes into making each individual drink. From chilling the glasses with ice before pouring the cocktail in, to pouring the tonic down the stirrer so that it doesn’t go flat – they have thought of everything to create the perfect drink.

The prices are reasonable and they have all sorts of offers on all the time too. For example, you can try one of their 10 gin serves for £5 all day on Thursdays or one of their classic cocktails for £5 on Fridays from 5-8pm. They are open from 11am to 11pm Monday to Sunday and I would highly recommend a visit!

This place looks amazing. When I seen the title of the post I got so excited because I only live a short distance away, and it’s one which I can actually try out for myself!
