How To Spend 3 Days In Chester – Where To Eat, Shop & Explore

Chester

You might have seen from my social media overload that I spent a few days in north Wales a few weeks ago. Ryan was up there, so I took a few days off work and went up to meet him and we tried to pack in some of the best bits that north Wales and Chester had to offer! After about 4 hours driving on a single lane road through the Brecon Beacons and beyond, I was so glad to get out of the car and have a wander around. Although not wanting to waste any time, we jumped straight into Ryan’s car and headed out to the countryside.

We ended up in a small village called Llangollen where they have the best little Italian restaurant called Fouzi’s. It’s just to the right of the bridge and opposite the ice cream and waffle shop. Ryan had creamy pesto chicken and I went for the chicken and chorizo risotto. The food was absolutely delicious! It was really fresh, full of flavour and really well priced too! Of course, Ryan also ended up at the ice cream shop straight after! We then headed out of the village to find the Aquaeduct. We walked along the viewpoint path and then along the bridge by the canal boats. You might have seen from my previous post that I love being outdoors, so this was my ideal Sunday afternoon. I loved the fresh air, exploring somewhere new and just wandering along chatting, whist looking at the beautiful scenery.

On Monday morning we were up, out and ready to explore/shop by 10am. We headed straight to Chester Designer Outlet Village to find some bargains! The selection of shops was amazing. There was a really good mixture of high street shops like Warehouse and Joules, as well as higher end high street shops like Ralf Lauren, AllSaints and Reiss. Of course, there were some fantastic designer shops too like Burberry and Mulberry. There was plenty of free parking, as well as places to eat and drink. The discounts were really good too! If you are in the area, it’s definitely worth popping by, even if it’s just for a couple of hours.

After a morning of shopping, we decided to pop into to Chester town, as it’s so picturesque and quaint we couldn’t not have a little wander around. After a little mooch around and me getting a bit spendy in the book shop (7 books later), we headed down to the river to have a little stroll. We grabbed a green tea and hot chocolate with some scones and found a nice little bench for us to sit on. Everything is so beautiful in and around the town, it was nice just to sit down and take it all in. The only thing I would say is that the parking is great and there is a lot of it, but it’s fairly pricey (as it is in any city). We did find this parking guide super helpful though.

My last day up north was spent at Chester Zoo, which was a fantastic way to end our couple of days away. The zoo had so many animals I hadn’t seen before and there were a lot of enclosures that you could walk through and the animals were walking/flying past you or above you. Their staff were absolutely lovely and so chatty. They were explaining what the animals were doing and eating as well as pointing out some of the more difficult animals to see.

If you are in the area I would highly recommend any of these things as they were all absolutely brilliant! They are great for all ages and either free or really reasonably priced.

I’m so glad I read this as I’ve got the opportunity to go to the zoo but wondered what else there was to do?

  4. We spent last August Bank Holiday weekend in Chester and did the zoo which was amazing. We also did the Blue Planet Aquarium before hitting the outlet stores as they’re beside each other. Sadly we didn’t spend any time in Chester itself but I’m sure we will some day.
