Sunday Skincare: My Favourite Cleansers

Anyone that knows me well, knows that I am obsessed with skincare. I don’t know why but I tend to buy makeup in phases, but skincare … that’s a whole different ball game!

I love trying out new skincare products and seeing what benefits they have for my skin. I currently have dry to combination skin, hormonal congestion around my chin and I also have rosacea. As you can imagine, finding a product that works well with all of that isn’t always the easiest, but I am always happy to try something new out.

As I have got older, I have really learnt to appreciate a skincare routine – not as much as I would like, but definitely more so than my 17 year old self. I am an avid fan of cleansers and its usually my go to section in Boots or Superdrug. I just love that fresh clean skin feeling.

Today I thought I would share some of my favourite cleansers, they are all slightly different so hopefully there may be something that sparks your interest too.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I am obsessed with micellar waters! I usually use them in two different capacities – I like to take off the bulk of my makeup with this and a cotton pad before doing a full cleanse with one of the cleansers mentioned below. I feel like the full cleanse does so much more for my skin when it’s not trying to fight with half the Double Wear bottle on my face. (Double Wear that’s only £16.50 might I add – you can read all about that here)

Micellar water is also the lazy girls’ ideal beauty product *insert hand up emoji. It’s fantastic on late nights when you don’t have the energy to stand at the sink and do a double cleanse. It’s also great if you are travelling or short on time and just want to freshen up.

I have to say my favourites are the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Waters as these seem to work really well for me. I usually have the green bottle for sensitive skin, but I’ve been trying this new one recently and so far it’s been really good.

Kiehls Ultra Facial Cleanser

I would just like to point out that I definitely picked this up in the duty free when I last went away. The lengths I will go to just to get an extra couple of grams in my suitcase. #noshame

Having not tried this before I grabbed it and ran to the boarding gate I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I would say this falls more under the category of a face wash rather than a cleanser. It has a very sticky gel like consistency that when mixed with water turns really foamy. I normally leave this one in the shower for those mornings when I am in a rush and I don’t have the time for my normal cleansing routine.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish

This product is my holy grail! It is such a cult product and from the first use I could see why. I would happily repurchase this over and over again. The price point is fairly reasonable for the time it lasts as well as the amazing results.

I love to double cleanse with this at night, my face is left feeling ridiculously clean, but without feeling stripped of all its natural oils. If you haven’t tried this before, I would highly recommend it. I promise you will not be disappointed!

Aurelia Probiotic Miracle Cleanser

Now this is where we take cleansing to a new level. This is my all time favourite high end luxury cleanser. I say luxury because it comes with a slightly higher price tag than drug store cleansers. Although, I can happily say the results are amazing. As I mentioned I suffer from rosacea which can leave my skin looking extremely red and irritated some days. I have noticed a massive difference when I use this with the Aurelia night oil. The results are not visible straight away, but when I wake up in the morning my skin feels clean and hydrated. More importantly, my skin tone evens out completely and my rosacea is much less noticeable.

I have a bucket list of cleansers that I want to try including the Clinique take the day off balm and The Body Shop chamomile cleanser range, so I am sure you will hear me sharing my thoughts on those soon.

  1. I am definitely a bit of a cleaser hoarder – it’s the one thing in my skin care routine that I just can’t get enough of. I’m already a huge fan of the Liz Earle and Kiehl’s picks you featured, but am really liking the look of the Aurelia one. Need to get my hands on some ASAP! Great post and absolutely beaut photographs girl!
