My 6 Must Have Weekend Travel Essentials

MAHI, travel, travel essentials, weekend travel, olympus, lifestyle

Traveling is one of my most favourite things to do and in one of my recent posts I talked all about why we should travel and how to do it as a student. I love exploring new places whether it’s here the UK or abroad and over the next couple of months I have a few little short/weekend trips that I need to plan for. So today I thought would share my weekend travel essentials with you. These are things that I always pack first and take with me no matter where I am going.

Travel essential #1 – The camera

First on the list is my camera, the Olympus EPL-8; which is my absolute pride and joy. This isn’t just a weekend essential, it’s more of a daily essential as I don’t normally leave the house without it.  I love to capture everything I get up to, whether it’s shared on my blog, on my YouTube channel or just for personal use; I love to be able to look back and see all the memories.

Travel essential #2 – Electronics

Next up is my electronics, this normally includes my iPhone (again I don’t really go anywhere without it), headphones, battery bank and my MacBook. I never used to take my laptop away with me, but as I am blogging so much more now, I like to fit in as much work as I can when and where I can.

Travel Essential #3 – Skincare & makeup

Something I normally plan first is my skincare items. I always take the bits I love the most and can trust to work well with my skin. Changes in temperature, water and just environment in general really affects my skin, so I stick with things I know work best. Normally that includes a range of Liz Earle, Origins or Aurelia products (let me know if you want to know more about this). Of course, I always take some makeup too, but normally just the basics so that I can create a fresh faced look.

Travel essential #4 – Notebook/book

I always take a notebook everywhere with me and especially when I am travelling! I mentioned in my last travel post that I feel so much more inspired and creative when I have a break in my routine and a change of scenery. Having a notebook handy lets me write down all the little ideas and plans that pop into my head, so I don’t forget any of them when I come home. I also love to take a good book with me in case I get the chance to get some reading in. I have been loving Cara Alwill Leyba’s books lately as they are so motivating.

Travel essential #5 – Glasses

Another essential has to be my glasses; both my normal pair and my sunglasses. You just never know when the sun is going to pop out or when you might get fed up of wearing contact lenses. For a short trip or weekend break, I like to take just one of each, so that I don’t have too many things to carry.

Travel essential #6 – The perfect bag

Last but not least, I have to have the perfect bag to keep all of my travel essentials in. I like to have something that is reasonably sized that I can fit everything in (because who wants to have to carry multiple bags), but also something that is not too big that I over pack! I normally choose leather bags because they are much better quality and can handle the wear and tear of travelling (you can read a bit more about it here). You might have also seen in my post about personal style that I like to invest in classic pieces that are going to last; especially if it is something I will use a lot. I am loving this MAHI tote bag at the moment; I think it will be perfect for my upcoming trips. Plus, they are made to order, so I can have my initials embroidered on it – I mean who doesn’t love something that’s personalised?

So those are my must have weekend travel essentials. Obviously, I have to have clothes and comfy shoes, but they vary depending on what the trip is for and where I am going. What are your weekend travel essentials? Let me know in the comments what things you can’t leave the house without.
