Things I’m Looking Forward To In Autumn & Winter

Normally I am not a really fan of autumn or winter fan, usually because of the cold weather, dark mornings and just general lack of sunshine. This year however I am actually quite looking forward to it and here’s why:

1. Autumn/Winter Wardrobe

Ok so I definitely think an autumn wardrobe is so much easier to build than a summer one. Mainly because I find most of the summer clothes are great for when your on holiday, but still not quite right for every day wear here in the UK. Plus I absolutely love cosy knits, dresses, tights, boots and scarves. Oh and don’t forget the fluffy socks! I have already bought a few pieces for next seasons wardrobe, but I cant wait to see what comes out in the shops over the next few months.

2. Candles

Don’t get me wrong I light candles all year round, but there is nothing better than being tucked up in doors with a blanket, the rain hitting the window and a gingerbread candle flickering on the table. I love all the fruity summer scents, but I cannot resist all the foodie and christmassy scents. We all know that Christmas Eve and Angel Wings are the one!

3. Hot Chocolates

I never used to really drink any hot drinks but recently I have been loving herbal teas. Although my all-time favourite is hot chocolate. Peppermint or hazelnut (aka Ferrero Rocher in a cup) is usually my go to. Saying that I loved the black forest one from Costa last year that I might even buy the syrup so I can have it at home too … like every single day. Throw some cream and marshmallows on top and you have the ultimate winter drink.

4. Holidays

Ok so I haven’t planned to jet off anywhere just yet, I was thinking more along the lines of Halloween, Bonfire Night, Christmas and New Year. We may not have any more bank holidays off work for a few months, but there will definitely be lots going on to keep us occupied. Roll on the christmas markets, plus think of all the blog content that will be out there!

5. Berry Lips

At the end of last winter I was finally brave enough to rock a red lip and I loved it. This year I cannot wait to test out all the berry colours. I currently don’t own any so feel free to send me all your recommendations.

6. Cosy Nights

Like I said, I usually cant stand dark winter nights and I love being able to be outdoors during the summer nights. That being said, I can’t wait for all the cosy evenings. Grab all the blankets, candles, hot chocolates, fluffy pjs, and movies and your good to go. I love how its the only time of year that its totally acceptable to spend all evening tucked up on the sofa.

7. Getting outdoors

Normally when autumn/winter hits I have tendencies to hibernate because I don’t want to go out in the cold and wet weather. This year I want to make the most of the dry days and get outdoors. I want layer up, explore some new places, take Mollie-Moo for long walks and make the most of all the fresh air when I can. Then on the rainy days I plan on snuggling up and using the time to read some new books.

8. Going Back to School

No I am not 15 and starting another school term, however I was crazy enough to apply for a Masters course. I was accepted earlier this year and I started this September. I am now at the point where I am wondering what have I signed myself up to and have I lost the plot. At the same time I just want to get started on this new chapter of my life and get stuck into a new challenge.

Roll on all things autumn, winter and cosy. What are you looking forward to this season?
