A few weeks ago I celebrated my 29thbirthday. Being a February baby normally means that birthday celebrations are a bit of a nightmare. The weather is normally pants, there isn’t much going on and everyone is short on pennies after Christmas. However, this year I was determined to make some plans. Ryan and I booked annual leave for my birthday, so we didn’t have to go to work and tried to come up with some ideas. I ended up having such a lovely day and it was definitely one of my best birthdays yet, so I thought I would share a little photo diary of the day.
We started our day waking up quite early to a light dusting of snow. Now this was a first, I don’t think I have ever had snow on my birthday before, so that was fun. As I was super fidgety in bed (pregnancy problems) and I could hear Ryan downstairs, I decided to head down. Our living room had bee filled with big balloons, cards and presents and I was greeted with the biggest cup of tea and some birthday pancakes with strawberries and blueberries. It was a very good way to start the day!
Once we were both showered and dressed, we headed off to Penarth to go to pottery painting at Dotty Pots. This was a super random and last minute idea I had a few days before my birthday and it was absolutely brilliant. We sat for around 2 hours chatting and painting the bits we chose. Ryan went for a honey pot and I went for an owl tea light holder. It was such a lovely way to spend the morning; it was so relaxing and therapeutic.
Once our bits were painted and they were ready to be glazed, we left them in the safe hands of the Dotty Pots staff and headed into Cardiff. As I was starving hungry (no changes there) we made lunch our first stop. We popped into Bills and had chicken skewers and a chicken burger, followed by some yummy chocolate brownies and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. With our tummies full, we then had a mooch around the shops, so that I could spend some birthday money. I didn’t find anything, but it was nice to have look around while it was quiet.
By about 5pm I was absolutely exhausted, I think we can blame baby Owen-Gibson for that (that or I am getting super old lol). We decided to head home and Ryan’s family popped over to celebrate. We had birthday cake (Bonnie the caterpillar; an all-time favourite of mine), sparklers, exploding confetti and cups of tea all round. I had such a lovely day and I wish I could do it all over again.
How do you like to spend your birthday? I would love to hear from you, so please leave me a comment below!
You look like you had such a good birthday! I love the pottery painting especially – it’s something so different but so lovely! Such a nice thing to do 🙂
