This week I was kindly invited to spend the evening with Kiehl’s in Cardiff. For once you probably won’t have seen much of it on social media and that’s because I was just so fascinated by all the information about skincare, that I just didn’t get my phone out. I was too busy learning about the brand and my skin.
The event started by being greeted with drinks from Pitch Bar and Eatery, which were absolutely delicious. They are also in Cardiff on Mill Lane if you are looking for somewhere new to try. They have 2 for 1 cocktails during the week and serve modern Welsh food with produce sourced locally.
With drinks in hand we then settled down to hear about the history of the brand. Now I have followed Kiehls for a while, but I had no idea just how long they have been around. They started in 1851 as an apothecary in New York, meaning they have years worth of experience in the industry and in creating skincare products. It also means their products have a healing approach. They contain naturally derived ingredients and some contain things that can naturally be found in the skin such as squalene, meaning that your skin absolutely loves it and drinks it right up. The brands history also explains the white lab coats, simple packaging and of course the handsome Mr. Bones.
After learning more about the brand and some favourite products we were able to have individual skin consultations. This is where the fascination reached a whole new level. Katie kindly tested the oil and hydration levels in my skin. I wasn’t surprised that my skin was less than hydrated, as I haven’t taken great care of it lately. Hydration levels should really be over 40%, but mine was only 28.8%. Katie then showed me what products would be the most suited to my skin and explained how they worked. She is an absolute skincare babe/guru and I could have listened to her all night. In my current skincare saviours post I gave an update on what my skin has been like lately. I explained all these things to Katie and she recommended the below products for me.
I have wanted to try the Midnight Recovery Concentrate for so long, but I have never actually purchased it – that is going to change! This is ideal for the evenings as it works with your skin to repair itself while you sleep during the night. So many people have said that they see fantastic results in the morning and I really want to get my hands on it.
The Calendula range is also ideal for my skin as it is very calming and as someone with rosacea this sounds perfect. Most of the products come with calendula petals in them and they are also soap and paraben free.
The most exciting product that I definitely want to get my hands on is the Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate. This is designed to boost hydration levels in the skin and can sometimes help your skin’s readings reach 50%.
I left the event feeling so motivated to up my skincare game – I wanted to go home and pamper my skin straight away! It was definitely one of my favourites as not only did I learn so much about the brand, but I also learnt so much about skincare and specifically my skin and what would help me.
It’s time to commence ‘Project Hydration’!
