Three Budget Beauty Buys to Get Your Hands on Now

It’s not very often that I splurge on makeup, however recently my beauty wish list seems to be getting longer and longer. I am normally swayed towards buying skincare items, but when I was in Boots last week I decided to shake it up a bit and treat myself to some new drug store makeup. I absolutely love high end beauty, but at the same time I always think there is that little bit of extra excitement when you find a great product at a cheaper price. I had a good clear out of my makeup collection just before I moved house, so I am definitely lacking in choices and decided that some new budget beauty buys would be a good way to start building it back up again.

L’Oreal Paradise Mascara

First on the list had to be the new L’Oréal paradise mascara. I’m not normally one to jump on the beauty blogger bandwagon and buy products as soon as they are released, but this one was a little bit different. I couldn’t believe how many people wanted to get their hands on it and how many good reviews there were. So of course, I wanted to be in on the action too. Basically, I wanted to know what everyone was raving about on social media. I’m not going to lie the wand on this scares me! I am super fussy about mascara wands and I know exactly how I like them to be. I opened the packaging and instantly thought nope, I’m not going to like it, that brush isn’t going to work for me … not judgmental at all.

Once I had finished having my melt down over the wand, I decided to give it a go. I was instantly surprised at how lengthening it was and how much I actually liked it. I did find the wand a little harder to use and apply, but I think that’s because I’m used something a little more rigid like the Benefit Roller Lash or the Elizabeth Arden Grand Entrance mascara, but I am slowly getting used to it. I always buy my mascara in the blackest shade possible, but this one seemed to be super dark which I also loved. It’s great for throwing on one coat and running out the door so that you look a little bit more put together or it’s build-able if you would like a more dramatic or fuller look.

L’Oréal Nude Magique CC Cream (Anti-Redness)

My next purchase was the L’Oréal CC cream for anti redness, which I’ve had on my radar for quite some time now. My mum picked this up a few months ago and she always looks bloody lovely when she uses it, so of course I wanted in on that action too. This is predominantly designed to cover redness which if you saw my latest skincare saviours post you will know that rosacea and redness is one of my main issues. I think they also make one for anti-dullness too. I really like this because it’s so lightweight, so much so that it doesn’t feel like your wearing any makeup and it gives a your skin but better coverage. The only thing I will say is that the consistency is quite runny, so it’s a little harder to work with, but I still like it all the same.

L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paint Matte

As there was a deal on in Boots it meant that I got a free L’Oréal product as I had bought the other two, so I spent ages scanning through the counter trying to decide what I would like. Shout out to Abi for waiting while I practically looked at every single product! I finally settled on one of the new matte lip paints in the shade 201 Hollywood Beige, a colour that’s quite close to my natural lip shade. Lip products are normally last on my list of things to buy, but I am glad I picked this one up as it’s the perfect ‘everyday’ shade and something I think I will get quite a bit of use out of.

If you’re in a drug store soon and fancy treating yourself to something new I would definitely recommend these; especially the mascara – even if you are a complete mascara wand snob like me!
