Easter bank holiday was glorious, purely because I had 4 whole days off work to do everything I wanted to. That included baking these ultimate chocolate overload cupcakes with my Sister. I decided that giving out chocolate easter bunnies to family and friends wasn’t quite enough and I wanted to give something with a little homemade touch. I roped my sister into helping me make 36 vanilla and chocolate cupcakes that I could deliver to everyone.
If you would like to make your own version, feel free to use any cupcake recipe that you like. Decorating the cakes is where the fun comes in. I love cupcakes as you can be creative as you like, I have loads of other ideas I would like to try next. This time we chose to make vanilla and chocolate buttercream icing and then topped them with a variety of things so there was something for everyone. We had a mix of chopped Snickers, Twix, Galaxy Golden Eggs and Flake, oh and some yummy caramel sauce to finish them off.
The cupcakes were a success for a first attempt, although my white converse didn’t agree as they got covered in cocoa powder…oops! Once we had managed to clean the kitchen up, which resembled something like a disaster zone (a bit like my shoes), I spent my evening driving round and delivering the cakes to everyone. Hopefully they enjoyed them as much as we did.
If you would like to make your own, the only thing I would recommend is to set aside enough time to get everything done. The 36 we made took us around 4 hours to make from start to finish. We then spent about 30 minutes just trying to work out how I was even going to get them home. As you can tell, I was very prepared. Although after trying one they were definitely worth the time and effort. They are perfect for any occasion or even just for fun.
