I can’t believe this post is actually going live. I can’t believe that we are at this point in our lives – it actually baffles my brain! It still doesn’t feel real and the past 12 weeks seem to be a complete blur! We have been together for such a long time and this is something that we have discussed over the years, but now we are actually here. We announced our baby news on social media earlier this week and the response was so overwhelming. We received so many messages, congratulations and well wishes, which made it even more special for us!
So what is there to tell so far?
A few weeks ago we were able to have our 12 week scan. I’m not going to lie, from finding out you are pregnant up until the day of that first scan is such a long time! We had a private scan the day before our NHS scan, as Ryan was unable to make the NHS one. Some people may think it’s odd to have them a day a part, but the experience was priceless. This is our first baby and I don’t think you can put a price on the experience. We were able to go together and see our little baby for the first time, see it’s heart beat and see it giving us a little high five.
We had our NHS dating scan the next day, which was a whole new experience again. I was able to take both my mum and Ryan’s mum with me, which I think was a lovely experience for the three of us together. A final due date was calculated, which I probably won’t share because we all know that babies arrive whenever they like. However, I will tell you that the due date is Ryan’s 30thbirthday (something we have all had a little giggle about)!
We are not going to find out if we are having a boy or a girl as we would like to have a surprise. However, shopping for unisex clothing has been hard! We don’t want to buy too much, just enough to get us through that first stage. So, if you have any recommendations please let me know!
This is such an exciting time for us that I want to share all the memories on my blog, so that in years to come not only can we both look back on these, but so can our family. Life is all about making memories and I want to capture as many of them as I can. Not only is this an exciting time, but it’s also the complete unknown. We have never had a baby before, so effectively we are absolutely clueless. That means it’s a whole new learning curve; it’s nerve-racking and overwhelming all at the same time. I want to share all the ups and downs, the things we have learnt, tips and tricks and all the fun and laughter along the way.
So, here’s to the Owen-Gibson family (expanding in 2019)!

We had a private scan at 17 weeks and 3 days and honestly I can’t fault it and would 100% do it again, it’s worth every penny! Matalan is pretty good for unisex stuff too, before we found out we were having a boy – most of our unisex bits are from there! Enjoy pregnancy <3
