Ryan and I went to the Sherwood Forest last weekend for a long weekend stay at a log cabin. We like to go somewhere different each winter and this year we stayed at the Sherwood Castle park in Rufford. The cabins and the local surroundings were so picturesque and it is definitely somewhere I would like to go again.
We left on Friday morning and traveled up in the pouring rain. We checked in and found our little cabin complete with log burner that Ryan started before we had even unloaded the car. We then popped to Tesco to stock up on goodies before cosying up and chilling out in front of the fire and eating our body weight in snacks.
On Saturday we decided to head to the Meadowhall shopping center in Sheffield to do some Christmas shopping. It had a great mix of shops including a huge Victoria Secret store; which I must have spent hours in. I also then managed to drag Ryan round the huge Next home store whilst mentally buying literally everything in the store. He didn’t mind too much once he realised we could have black forest hot chocolates in the Costa they had upstairs.
On Sunday we headed to the Sherwood Forest Country Park and decided to do the 3 1/2 mile walk. We wandered along for about ten minutes before getting out the cameras and taking lots of silly photos. After trying to find our way around the forest we finished the walk by checking out the major oak tree which was huuuuge! Again we finished the day by cosying up in front of the fire and watching my all time favourite Christmas film Elf.
Monday meant packing up and heading back to reality (sad faces). We ended our weekend by stopping for dinner at a lovely pub near where we live and again ate lots more than we should have. We had a fantastic time away and really enjoyed staying in the Sherwood Forest. I would highly recommend Sherwood Castle park/log cabins; it was fantastic value for money and you cannot fault the amazing log burner.
